Art is born out of passion. Fine Art photography is a perfect instrument, which allows a person to communicate with the world and share their vision. It results from the author’s deep sensitivity, a need to express feelings through image, a unique view of the surrounding reality. It can be spontaneous, but it can also be a conscious and deliberate manifesto. FAPA is searching for photos born out of passion – your passion.
The competition is open to everyone, amateurs and professionals alike. Entries are welcome from any country in the world. Your work will be judged by an international panel of high profile photographers.
The winners of the Professional and Amateur sections will receive the titles: Professional Fine Art Photographer of the Year, Amateur Fine Art Photographer of the Year and $5000 in cash prizes.

DEADLINE June 10th, 2015 Midnight EST
Conflict and resolution, photography that documents the dynamic power-struggles in our world and conversely, the moments of calm.
Humankind is in a constant state of conflict. As described by the famous Karl Marx theory: society is in a state of perpetual conflict due to competition for limited resources. One can see that is true if you simply watch a broadcast news program.
From civil rights, to gay rights to global terrorism, our world is a bubbling cauldron of adversarial commotion. And it seems it has always been this way. History textbook pages merely skim the surface when if comes to wars and hypocrisy. Cultural misunderstandings, power-struggles and discrimination easily erupt into violence.
Darkroom Gallery is calling for photography that investigates the relationship between conflict and photography, exploring the types of photographs created during turmoil, as well the times of peace. We are interested in the progression of war: from the acts that instigate armed conflict to “the fight,” to victory and defeat, and photos that memorialize a time, its combatants, and its victims. Images playing with symbolism and allegory are well suited for this exhibit.
We ask you to think outside the box. This theme of conflict can be expressed intimately, quietly behind civilian curtains as well as on the battlefield.

Until recently, art and science were not such distinct disciplines. Before the 20th century, collectors displayed their scientific treasures alongside their paintings. In cabinets of “curiosities,” collectors displayed specimens from the natural world alongside prints, drawings, and paintings. All of these treasures were deemed marvels of the material world, equally important for their aesthetic qualities and expressive of the mystery and hidden order of the world. In the 20th century, art and science diverged dramatically. Artists and scientists were regarded as having different perspectives and goals. Now we see a reconvergence; we appreciate the creative thinking in scientific discoveries, and artists seek out the images in macro and micro scale produced from our scientific and tech-dominated age.
This exhibition seeks art that reflects the artist as scientific explorer, empirical thinker, or art in any media that has been influenced by scientific discoveries and imagery, past and present. – See more at: Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery
